Q: How long is an average game?

A: This is largely dependent on how much time is spent during the "feelings" portion of the game, but we find the game lasts about 40 minutes per player.

Q: What is the suggested age for players?

A: 12+

Q: Can you play D&F as a straight board game without the question segment?

A: Yes! D&F is meant to be flexible. You can choose to play it as a regular board game or integrate the questions. Most players choose to play with questions because that's how the game was originally intended.

Q: What makes D&F unique from other dungeon crawlers?

A: Quite a bit! For one, each player creates a dungeon of their own design for their character to proceed through, and it is their dungeon alone, not to be interfered with by other players. You can decide exactly when you open treasure, when you fight monsters, the route you take, etc. Unlike other dungeon crawlers, there is no such thing as "good" or "bad" events as each room has a use and role to play in your overall victory.

In the classic mode, there are no all-or-nothing dice rolling events so common in the genre, minimizing the importance of luck and instead emphasizing strategic planning. D&F is also designed to be played in one sitting, so you get a full dungeon crawling experience in one go rather than spread over multiple game nights.

Also, players generally aren't killed or eliminated. In short, D&F is really more of a Euro style, non-aggressive approach to a dungeon crawling board game.

Q: Is D&F hard to learn? How complex is it? Who is this for?

A: While not the simplest game out there, it is also far from the most complex. There are a number of different systems working together, but none of them are difficult to understand. None of our play testers struggled with the rules. You'll be fine.

D&F is in many ways an homage to classic adventure and RPG video games, so those familliar with these games will probably catch on quickly to the rules and appreciate all the references. However, it is not necessary to be familiar with these games to play and enjoy D&F.
